The internet and YouTube now is loaded with so many tutorials by artist's giving free tutorials and tips for beginners first learning to digital paint and I find can be overwhelming,  when I first tried to start learning digital painting it was really difficult and often frustrating trying to navigate my way through different tutorials, some were okay while other's not so much and all too often found myself just binge watching tutorials without actually getting anything on to the canvas. I couldn't find anything that was short concise, to the point and had some sort of  structure, as at this time I was a full time college student and working part time therefor time was often limited, however i was determined to keep pushing my skills and gain knowledge.

One day I came across Matt Kohr's free educational website for aspiring digital painters Ctrl+paint!!,
" a free learning resource dedicated to the basics of digital painting. Each bite-sized video covers a different concept, allowing you to learn complex subjects in manageable increments".

This was the perfect building block since i had no prior digital painting experience but only with traditional mediums and so I gave a his free videos a shot, and without a doubt I was very happy with what the videos had to offer, each were roughly five minuets long and straight to the point. JackPot !! :D

In every video, Matt has an awesome way of explaining and teaching art concept's in a nice simple structured format that is easy for any beginner to follow along, furthermore many of his videos include many exercises that you can try out for yourself, great fundamental exercises that i often find myself coming back to time and time again because they really help improve the quality of the work, also these exercises are also often known to be taught in very prestigious art school's.

Which also brings me to the fact that he also covers a bit about the advantages of learning to drawing traditionally first before jumping into the digital medium which i feel is great especially if you are just also started learning to draw.

End of Part 1

Thanks for reading
Happy Painting
